Foundations of Infant Feeding

A 2-Part Prenatal Infant Feeding Class: June 3rd & 10th

Led by Morgan Schenkeveled, an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant and Childbirth Educator, this two-part class is designed to help you enter the postpartum period with a deeper understanding of infant feeding, realistic expectations, and practical tools to support both you and your baby.

This series focuses on helping you understand how feeding commonly unfolds in the early weeks, what is biologically normal, and how to navigate feeding with greater confidence, flexibility, and clarity. Together, we’ll explore both the science and the lived reality of feeding a newborn, so you can feel more prepared, informed, and supported as you move into this new season.

Part One: Understanding Feeding & Lactation

In our first class, we’ll explore the foundations of lactation and infant feeding physiology, including:

  • how milk production works

  • what influences supply in the early weeks

  • newborn feeding patterns and behaviors

  • what’s biologically normal in the postpartum period

  • common challenges families encounter

  • how feeding evolves over time

This class is intended to help you build a framework for understanding why feeding works the way it does, so you can feel more grounded and less overwhelmed as you navigate the transition into parenthood.

Part Two: Practical Feeding Skills & Support

In our second class, we’ll focus on the practical “how-to” of feeding and early postpartum support, including topics such as:

  • breastfeeding positioning and latch

  • bottle feeding and paced feeding techniques

  • pumping and milk expression

  • responsive feeding and regulation

  • navigating common early feeding concerns

  • creating a supportive feeding environment

This class is designed to help you feel more prepared with hands-on strategies and practical tools you can draw from once your baby arrives.

Whether you have a plan for feeding your baby, or you're entering this season with uncertainty and openness, you are welcome here.
